Slowly, more high schools, universities and colleges are adding personal finance courses to their availableĀ curriculum. It’s taking time to get through many of the university approval processes, but dedicated groups like the GW Women in Business are working hard to ensure that students at their schools have the necessary information to not only survive, but thrive in the world on their own. Just recently, George Washington University added a course to help students bolster their financial literacy. The course will focus on credit card interest, loans, mortgages, investments and more. Even though this is an excellent step in the right direction, we need to continue to work with the current administration and Congress to make mandated financial education a core part of its agenda. It is our responsibility to look out for the financial well-being and aptitude of the nation.
