Growth happens faster when you learn from others because you get viable shortcuts to success. This is why investing in a women’s mastermind or in business mentorship for women is one of the best investments you will ever make.
At the beginning of my career, there were very few women mentors or women business coaches. Unfortunately, at that time, women were far more likely to view each other as rivals rather than collaborative partners.
We were told that we needed to compete with each other to be successful, creating fear. We simply cannot be our best selves when we operate from that place because we are focused on what we might lose, instead of on the possibilities that are gained with collaboration, an expanded point of view and a desire to create win/win scenarios for everyone involved.
I am glad to see that is changing and now more women are supporting women.
It is beautiful because women lead differently—with empathy, intuition and strength. That combination creates a powerful way to collectively bring incredible things to life because it comes from a place of abundance instead of scarcity.
We all have different things we bring to the table and when women work together to expand their power of association, collaborate on joint ventures and celebrate each other’s wins, we create stronger leaders and businesses, and the clients we serve and support are better off for it.
One of the most wonderful and collaborative opportunities I’ve had in my career was writing Think and Grow Rich for Women with the Napoleon Hill Foundation.
I loved the experience because I was able to learn and share insights from some of the most powerful women leaders in the world. That makes the book a mentoring experience that is easy to access for anyone.
We covered many areas that women are likely to face in their lives. From making decisions at major crossroads in life, like Margie Aliprandi did when she started a business with no capital and no experience to support her children; to using our imaginations to bring magical things to life like J.K. Rowling did; and to bringing out the power of a mastermind group, as Marsha Firestone did with the Women’s Presidents’ Organization (WPO).
I know masterminds are powerful because I have participated in many of them during my career. I have personally been a member of the Phoenix WPO since its inception in 1997 and it was there that I met my best friend, Elaine Ralls, who has added more to my life than I can ever describe. (She is also featured in a chapter of Think and Grow Rich for Women and you can get her insights on my podcast.)
That relationship alone was far more than worth the investment but I’ve gotten even more from WPO.
It is a women’s business community that accelerated my success, and through it, I have also been able to impact the lives and legacies of many women business leaders during the monthly meetings and events, as well as in my own mastermind groups that they attended.
When it comes to women’s networking and mastermind groups, we all have to remember that women have a better understanding of what other women are going through in a way that men can’t because of our similar experiences. Just as the reverse is also true.
Because of that, when you make the investment in yourself and surround yourself with powerful women who are willing to lift you higher, just as you do for them, you can make many wonderful things happen in your lives and businesses.
Asking for help can be difficult especially if you are used to giving instead of receiving, feel like you should know more than you actually do or you struggle with imposter syndrome.
The reality is that none of us know everything and trying to do it all on our own will eventually lead to burnout and exhaustion. One of the beautiful things about women’s mastermind groups is that they help you get past those blocks to success.
When you join a women’s mastermind, you get to give and receive because the point is to share experiences. You will learn from women who are a few steps ahead of where you are in your life and business and you will also get to share your insights, skills and wisdom with others who haven’t done what you have done or been through the things you have experienced.
Together, you will share wins and challenges. How they were created. What to do to get past the obstacles you faced or could face. And so much more, helping you see that you really are an expert in your field, just like the women who surround you.
When you join women mastermind groups or peer mastermind groups you will discover things you might not have found on your own and because of it you will accelerate your growth and success.

Whether it’s women mastermind groups, women networking groups or women leadership groups, the collective power and the opportunities that come when women work together make the return on the investment more than worth it.
That is because women’s mastermind groups help you:
This list could go on and on because the opportunities that come when women support women are nearly endless, but the best way to learn how much they can help you is to join a women’s mastermind group.
You are your best asset and any investment you make in yourself and your personal and professional growth will always be worth it!
It’s important to know that not every women’s community will be the right fit for you.
You must consider how it aligns with your:
Be sure to look for a high level of experience in the women’s mentorship groups you consider. While it is nice to be able to share your expertise, if you are the person in the room with the most knowledge, you will not develop yourself in the same way that you will learning from other women who are at stages in life and/or business beyond yours.
It’s also important to be aware of the energy of the group, the way it makes you feel and the quality of the conversations that the women are having in it.
Success is a team sport.
We aren’t meant to do life or business alone and when you join a women’s mastermind group aligned with your needs, you will surround your self with a network of women who will encourage you, challenge you, celebrate with you, and above all, believe in you.
That’s when you become part of a community that will positively shape your mindset and your habits, which will ultimately create your success—and that kind of investment is always worth it.
